So I’ve come to the conclusion that I am kind of addicted to Television. I watch so much television its not even funny. Ok maybe it’s a little funny! I am usually the person all my friends come to when they need a good show to watch because I’ve watched almost everything, Literally almost everything! You name it I’ve probably seen it: American Horror Story, Weeds, the Office, Scandal, Game of Thrones, Supernatural, Workaholics, Girls, Suits, Criminal Minds, Desperate Housewives… This list can go on for days. If I calculated the amount of hours I’ve spent watching television I’d…actually lets not, that doesn’t sound like a good idea haha. So given that I’m trying to better myself I’ve decided I would challenge myself. Starting tomorrow, January 31st until February 14th (15 days) I am banning myself from watching any television. I’m going cold turkey. You can call it my detox. I’m not watching anything on the Television/Computer/Netflix that includes my moms Telenovelas or my nephew’s Disney Marathons. In the meantime I want to get deeper into my school work, catch up on my Reading List, and go out exploring more often…. although we’re currently in a polar vortex so exploring doesn’t sound too likely. So wish me luck guys and prepare for the endless tweets about how I’m going crazy missing my shows.
I am so excited for my trip to Cuba; I am literally counting down the days. For those of you that don’t know, in March I’m going on a study tour in Cuba with Fordham for a week. What makes this trip exceptional, besides the fact that it’s Cuba, is that Fordham is paying over 70% of the trip for me. This opportunity has been absolutely amazing and has made be twice as excited to go. I’ve been researching key things you have to do in Cuba, so I can get the most out of this trip. I have to try Cuban rum (apparently is not available anywhere else). I’m not really a fan of cigars but since I am already there I might try a Cuban cigar. Being a frequent coffee drinker, I’m so eager to try the Cuban coffee. I want to try that authentic cup of real and natural Cuban coffee. While I was looking online, I came across this awesome activity that I am excited to try once I get to Cuba. Since Cuba is filled with vintage cars from the 1950’s, you can actually get the drivers to drive you around the city in one of those cars and visit Cuban landmarks. That would literally be so awesome to get to ride along in one of those cars. I can’t wait to visit the Malecón, the Plaza de San Francisco de Asìs, and Plaza de la Revolución. There are so many beautiful things about Cuba, my list is going to be extensive hopefully I can complete everything while I’m there. If you guys know of anything I have to do while I’m there let me know.
The Year 2013 was an absolutely great year; I got the opportunity to try out so many different experiences, my Memory Jar Project was a success, and I ended the year nicely. As I move forward into the New Year, I’m excited for what is to come. 2013 was all about trying out new experiences and doing things I’ve never done before. For 2014, I want to take it a step further and make it about taking more risks. Sometimes I let fear stop me from doing the things I want to do. So for 2014 I want to control my fears and take more chances. If there is something I want to do, I’m going to bulk up as much courage as I can and just follow through. Along with taking more risks, there are also three aspects of my life that I want to work on this year and those include: my education, my career goals, and myself. I want to improve my education and better myself, there’s a list of topics that I want to teach myself (ex: Economics, History, Finance, etc.). I want to gather as much knowledge about different subjects as I can. Career wise, I want to start diving into internships to see if I can discover my passion and maybe figure out what direction I want to take my life in. Lastly I want to work on myself, I want to improve myself both physically and mentally. I want to take this year and attempt to figure out who I am and find my place, but I also want to start changing up my lifestyle and start moving into a healthier way of living. I’m starting 2014 with my right foot forward and will attempt to make this an even better year compared to 2013.
